Education and Training

Dr. Levy began his training as a psychologist at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, in which he majored in both Psychology and Child and Family Studies. He continued his training at Hofstra University, in Hempstead, NY and obtained a combined doctorate degree in Clinical and School Psychology.

The dual focus of his training provided him with a wide range of experience working with individuals across the lifespan in educational institutions, clinics, private practice and hospital settings.

Experience

Dr. Levy is a highly skilled and dedicated clinical and school psychologist with over 15 years of experience working with children, adolescents and adults with mild to severe cognitive, emotional, developmental and behavioral difficulties, including individuals with Anxiety and Mood Disorders, Obsessive- Compulsive related Disorders, Intellectual Disabilities, Autism Spectrum Disorders, Disruptive, Impulse-Control and Conduct Disorders, Learning Disabilities, ADHD, Anxiety, Trichotillomania and Prader-Willi Syndrome. Dr. Levy has extensive experience conducting psycho-educational assessments and advocating for the needs of the clients he serves. In addition to working as a school psychologist for over a decade in a self-contained High school program for students with social, emotional, behavioral and developmental disabilities, Dr. Levy also served as the School Support Liaison and Crisis Management Team leader, coordinating therapeutic interventions between the student, school personnel, clinical staff and family members.

In addition, Dr. Levy served as a Dignity for All Students Act Coordinator, in which he investigated incidents of bullying and/or harassment related to an individuals actual or perceived race, color, weight, national origin, ethnic group, religion, religious practice, disability, sexual orientation, gender (including gender identity or expression) and sex. As a Dignity for All Students Act Coordinator, Dr. Levy consistently advocated for his students and helped to coordinated appropriate interventions. In addition to working in the schools, Dr. Levy has over ten years of experience working with children and adults in private practice.

Areas of Specialty

Dr. Levy has specialized training in applying Cognitive Behavioral Therapy techniques to children, adolescents and adults in clinical and school settings. He has extensive experience utilizing clinically validated therapeutic techniques with individuals experiencing symptoms consistent with depression, anxiety, disruptive, impulse-control and conduct disorders. He also has specialized experience working with individuals with Neurodevelopment disorders, including mild to moderate intellectual disabilities, Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder and Specific Learning Disorders.

He has a vast amount of experience conducting psycho-educational assessments. He is also certified as an Instructor in Nonviolent Crisis Intervention by the Crisis Prevention Institute. He has substantial experience working with individuals experiencing high levels of emotional distress, externalizing behaviors and acute clinical symptoms.
