Marissa Hartel is practicing under the supervision of Dr. Marissa Long, Psy.D., MAOB.
Education
Marissa earned her Master of Clinical Psychology degree from Azusa Pacific University where she is currently a fifth-year clinical psychology doctoral student, studying the role of attachment and the impact of childhood trauma on relationships in adolescence and adulthood.
Training and Experience
Marissa has experience providing therapy to clients in a variety of settings and with a wide range of mental health difficulties, and is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). Marissa aims to empower clients to overcome their trauma and other difficulties while uncovering underlying psychological processes in order to heal and grow. Marissa cares deeply for being an active ally and serving diverse communities. She continuously works to better understand the difficulties that are posed for clients of color and how she can help. Marissa’s commitment to helping everyone is what excited her about working at ARC Counseling and Wellness.
Marissa’s background and experiences have prepared her to work with presenting concerns that accompany depression, anxiety identity struggles, trauma, relationship concerns, adjustment difficulties, parent-child relationship challenges, and eating disorders. Previously, Marissa has had the privilege of working in a university counseling center, an eating disorder clinic, and in a community based counseling center doing testing and therapy. Through her various experiences, she has developed a passion for supporting others on their path to healing and overall wellness.
Outside of work, Marissa enjoys spending her downtime with a good book, music, and sunshine.
